Civic Center Policies
Our facility of part of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and we are considered an educational facility. As such, the following guidelines apply to our facilities and grounds:
The civic center is a multi-use complex, complete with a state-of-the-art auditorium, classrooms, and event spaces. We’re a facility of Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute.
We’re conveniently located on Highway 321 in Lenoir. Our physical address is 1913 Hickory Blvd. SE, Lenoir, NC 28645. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 600, Lenoir, NC 28645.
The civic center box office is open from 10:00 am until 4:00 Monday through Friday for most of the year. The box office is always open two hours prior to showtime and closes 30 minutes after a production begins. Office hours are 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. In the summer, we adjust our hours slightly to coincide with CCC&TI’s summer hours. Rentals and events are not confined to office hours.
Our Program Assistant helps with any event involving conference rooms, meeting spaces, and banquet halls. Cheryl Bolt can be reached at 828-726-2394 or at cbolt@cccti.edu.
Our Director of Performing Arts offers guidance with any event held in the 1,000-seat auditorium. You may call Jeff Bentley at 828-726-2409 or email him at jbentley@cccti.edu.
Chef Corey Hooks serves as our Coordinator of Catering. You can reach him at thooks@cccti.edu or at 828-759-8189 for information about our in-house catering options.
The civic center reserves some events several years in advance. As events are scheduled on a first come, first served basis, it’s important to reserve quickly. Cheryl Bolt can help you secure your date.
Our calendar stays full with conferences, lunch meetings, banquets, programs, celebrations, and gatherings of all sorts. We always try to offer you alternate dates if your first choice is already booked. Contact our Program Assistant , and she can work with you to reserve a date for your event.
With meeting spaces perfectly suited for one person up to 350 people, we have you covered. We also offer a state-of-the-art, 1,000-seat auditorium. Our staff can create a custom set-up suited to your specific needs. Check out the most popular diagrams of our spaces here [link to layout / specs document].
We enjoy personalizing our spaces for our patrons. Do you have a clear vision or are you needing guidance? Either way, our technicians are here to help. Click here to see photos from past events [link to past event photos] and here for typical room set-ups [link to room set-ups].
We’re able to offer rooms that suit your needs, whether a handful of team members are looking for a quiet place to meet, you’re putting together a large wedding, or anything in between. [Link to diagrams of rooms similar to Nashville’s.]
Our auditorium offers box office services, technical assistance, and seating for up to 1,000. Jeff Bentley can help you craft your vision for this space. Click on our technical specs [link to technical specs] to learn more about the services and equipment we offer. [Link to something we create like Nashville’s Event Planning Guide.]
Rental fees, equipment costs, catering services, and personnel charges are based on a number of factors. Connect with Cheryl Bolt , and she’ll be able to offer a fee schedule tailored to your needs. For general pricing information, click here [link to fees document].
We do require a deposit to reserve a date and room. Fees are due by the date of the event. For more information, read our Patron Information Manual [link to Patron Information Manual] or contact Cheryl Bolt.
Exhibitors, show runners, and contractors will need to pay sales and use taxes. Information about NC taxes can be found on the NC Department of Revenue website. Caldwell County’s tax rate is 6.75%.
We are pleased to partner with our local nonprofits and gladly offer significant discounts. Contact Cheryl Bolt or read our Event Planning Guide [link to EPG] for detailed information.
Our patrons do sign contracts when they rent venue space and host events. You can view a sample contract here [link to sample contract]. A contract is required to secure your event.
Many patrons prefer to decorate their rented spaces for special events. Simply be mindful that you need to plan on decorating during your rental time. Read the Event Planning Guide to learn more about what can be used for decoration and time frames that should be considered. Basic, general cleaning is included in your rental. If deeper cleaning is required, you may need to pay an extra fee. [Link to EPG.]
North Carolina alcoholic beverage regulations must be followed at your own liability. Security is required at any event where alcohol is served. To learn more, read our Event Planning Guide [link to EPG].
The civic center boasts our own in-house catering service, the JEBCC Catering Group! Our chef and his team craft mouth-watering meals, snacks, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and even boxed lunch options. Click here to view our menu [link to menu] or connect with Chef Corey Hooks to learn more.
Our executive chef can work with your budget to create incredible options from breakfast and brunch to break-out session snacks to three-course banquet dinners. View our menu here [link to menu] and contact our Coordinator Catering to plan the perfect food for your event.
We’re pleased to offer a wide selection of catering options. View our full menu here [link to menu].
The civic center’s kitchen is only permitted for in-house catering and culinary arts classes. However, we can gladly provide ice free of charge.
You’re welcome to choose to have your event catered by a commercial caterer. Using our in-house catering service is not required, but all health code regulations need to be followed. [Link to health code information.]
Open public WiFi is available for general use. Our network is called Tsunami. Contact Jeff Bentley for additional services or see our Event Planning Guide for more information [link to EPG].
Our facility, part of Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute, is considered an educational campus. That means firearms (including concealed carry permitted firearms) are not allowed on our property.
As an educational campus, smoking is not allowed.
We aren’t responsible for anything lost or abandoned at events, but we do make an effort to find anything left behind at events. Items are held for 15 days. Contact the facility at 828-726-2394 if you or a guest lose something at your event.
We’re part of Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. Show cancellations due to weather conditions are rare. In the event that such an instance occurs, patrons will be notified of the cancellation.
We don’t allow pets at the civic center. You may be accompanied by a service animal, but it needs to be trained, properly harnessed, and fully documented. We abide by the ADA’s definition of a service animal: “A service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” Under the ADA guidelines, “emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals.”
We are committed to meeting your needs and ensuring an enjoyable experience. Our campus meets ADA requirements for the time of establishment. We have a patron drop-off point, handicap parking spaces, and ample parking areas that can accommodate large crowds. For questions about accessibility, contact Cheryl Bolt . Click here [link to diagrams] to view diagrams of our facility.
The box office is open two hours prior to the beginning of any of our shows. You’re welcome to arrive at the civic center early for an event, especially one that is sold out. Doors to the auditorium typically open within 30 to 60 minutes of the performance time. Please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes early. Ushers will be available to help you find your seat. For the sake of the performers and fellow patrons, if you arrive late, ushers may ask you to wait for a few moments before showing you to your seat. We do offer handicap parking, but there are a limited number of spaces. There is a patron drop off area close to the main entrance for your convenience. Most guests prefer to wear comfortable clothing, similar to business casual.
